NIS’ proud history began with the vision and endeavors of one woman.
1999 marked the inaugural launching of the NIS National School in Nasr City, Cairo, with 1650 students, 450 staff members, and 55 classrooms. The following year 100 students matriculated as the first graduates of NIS.
To enhance the educational experience, 120 staff members began an intensified training program paralleling the CEO vision to further boost teaching skills in the classroom. In 2003, NIS was recognized by the Egyptian Ministry of Education and awarded the Shield of Excellence.
NIS was rapidly growing and evolving to meet the demands of the overall Egyptian community. In 2004, the National School expanded its grounds to a new campus in the First Settlement, Cairo. With it, NIS offered two other systems of education: the American, and the French. In the following year, 2005, the NIS Private Deutsche Shule Kairo (NIS-PDSK) opened as one of the four German schools available in Egypt at the time.
After acquiring the ISO 9001:2008 International Standard in May of 2013, NIS continues to flourish as a leader of International Education in Egypt. Today, we celebrate our diverse community and empower our pedagogical foci by partnering with other best-practice schools worldwide through our Global Citizenship Program.
